Providing Support to Grantees Through Consultation and Training
Thrive South's technical assistance program is appropriate for most funders- from state agencies with nonprofit partners to foundations supporting several grantees.
Sometimes the people with the greatest passion for their work still need help with the organizational and fiscal details.
State or other public agencies. A personalized training and technical assistance program designed for your department and/or your grantees could make your team more engaged, less stressed, more productive, and more committed to your mission than you thought possible.
Foundations and corporations. This program is ideal when organizations receiving your funding need to build their capacity to best fulfill the objectives of their grant or mission. Thrive South, LLC works closely with fiscal management, budgeting, sustainability, grant writing /grant management and program start-up. Other mentoring is available.
Approach. Technical assistance programs offer much more than a series of classes. Thrive South provides hands on instruction along with education about key management topics. We ensure that program leadership can replicate the skills we teach. We do not leave a program until they have a good grasp of management basics.
Technical assistance programs are important because they help discover a social impact organization's strengths as well as weaknesses. For example, we have worked with organizations that were initially unaware the following are not allowable:
“Double-dipping” on personnel costs by requesting more than 100 percent reimbursement (FTE) for an individual employee
Calculating and claiming administrative costs incorrectly
Submitting invoices based on costs other than the actual or incurred expenses or approved performance based fees.
Requesting funds in a grant for specific expenses and using the funds on something entirely different without permission.
