Providing Support to Grantees Through Consultation and Training
Thrive South's technical assistance program is appropriate for most funders- from state agencies with nonprofit partners to foundations and their grantees.
Sometimes the people with the greatest passion for their work still need help with the organizational and fiscal details.
State or other public agencies. A personalized training and technical assistance program designed for your department and/or your grantees could make your team more engaged, less stressed, more productive, and more committed to your mission than you thought possible. They will cut down on hand-holding and accomplish more of important tasks! Your department will explore and agree on best practices. Grantees will learn the same practices as well as other standard nonprofit financial management and evaluation techniques.
Foundations and corporations. This program is ideal for new grantees or start-up organizations with first-time funding. Technical assistance will build capacity and grantees will learn to meet their objectives while learning fiscal management, budgeting, sustainability, grant writing /grant management and program start-up.
Approach. Technical assistance programs offer much more than a series of classes. Thrive South provides hands on instruction along with education about key management topics. We ensure that program leadership can replicate the skills we teach. We do not leave a program until they have a good grasp of management basics.
Technical assistance programs are important because they help discover a social impact organization's strengths as well as misconceptions or lack of knowledge. Nonprofits will learn the appropriate way to:
Claim personnel costs without “double-dipping”
Calculate and claim administrative costs incorrectly
Submit correct invoices based on allowable costs
Categorize employees and contractors, be in compliance with other policies and procedures.
These are just a few areas that nonprofits have misunderstood procedure and are eager to become compliant when they understand the expectation.
